DOUBLETAKE Soundtrack #17: "New Born" by Muse

New Born

Link it to the world
Link it to yourself
Stretch it like a birth squeeze
The love for what you hide
The bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born
When you’ve seen, seen
Too much, too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Hopeless time to roam
The distance to your home
Fades away to nowhere
How much are you worth
You can’t come down to earth
You’re swelling up, you’re unstoppable

’cause you’ve seen, seen
Too much, too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Destroy the spineless
Show me it’s real
Wasting our last chance
To come away
Just break the silence
’cause I’m drifting away
Away from you

Link it to the world
Link it to yourself
Stretch it like it’s a birth squeeze
And the love for what you hide
And the bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born

When you’ve seen, seen
Too much, too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Destroy the spineless
Show me it’s real
Wasting their last chance
To come away
Just break the silence
’cause I’m drifting away
Away from you

Jayda’s personal note: this song reminds me a lot of BLACKOUT Cal… also, the guitar is just crazy-kickass. An oldie but one of the best Muse songs ever… before everyone else knew about them through TWILIGHT. *evil giggles*

    Vote! Perfect ‘Blackout’ song.

  • Deidre

    I love Muse’s sound.
Never heard this song before but it fits!

  • Jess

I gotta say anything by Muse is good, especially pre-evil (sparkly vamps) time.
So my vote for this. I do love the Paul Oakenfold remix of this a bit more, once you get past the opening.

I never thought of it before but dead on Jayda, this is now the opening theme for “Blackout” in my mind.

    • Jayda

      It is sooooo BLACKOUT, eh?

And it’s a crime how many people have never heard this song, because they only started to like Muse via TWILIGHT. *shuddering*

*I* actually heard this song in HAUTE TENSION. That movie freaked me out SO badly, I couldn’t even listen to this Muse song for a long time, because it would give me the creeps! That was when I was a horror lightweight, though. 😉 Now, I could listen to this song anywhere, anytime and MANY times. 🙂

So wow, Paul Oakenfold did a remix of this? *dashing off to check it out*

      • Jess

Sadly, Oakenfold’s does not have the killer guitar riffs in it.
(I use this version for running, not in the away sense ;), & the remix for yoga.) As for horror movies, I’m such a wuss I can’t even watch the adverts on the telly for them.

I also kinda associate Grimm with this song now to. In my mind it’s the “background noise” when he’s on the rooftops watching Cal.

        • JaydaSteele

          Oooooh…. NICE thought on Grimm!
